President's Message On May 10th the Irish American honored Eddie Norton for his many years of service by dedicating the entrance off of West Street the " Edward J. Norton Way”. Eddie joined the Irish American in 1957, his dedication and service to the organization has set a standard for which all Irish American members should uphold. I would also like to pay tribute to Ed`s lovely wife Betty for her many years of working the books in the manager’s office. I would like to thank Paul Norton and the entire Norton Family for helping in making this day a great success. It was great to see all of Eddies close friends (AKA The Breakfast Club) at the dedication showing their love for their close friend. Special thanks to PJ Quinn and Billy Hart for spearheading the event. When events like this are held, Billy ensures that no detail is missed and the success of the event is a reflection on his dedication and his commitment to the membership. I would also like to thank Mayor Gary Christenson, Mayor Michael McGlynn, Councilman Steve Ultrino, State Rep Chris Fallon, Malden Police, Malden Police Honor Guard, Bill Timmons and all of the IA Members who attended. BINGO REPORT After many years of conducting Bingo at the Malden Irish American, it has come to a time where attendance has dropped to well under the minimum needed to conduct a profitable bingo. Bingo will be closed after May 28th Bingo. Bingo over the years has helped raise many thousands of dollars for scholarships and other charitable money given out in the name of the club. I would like to thank the dedicated members who have helped out bingo. It has been decides that we will take another look at reopening bingo in the fall but there is a possibility that bingo will not reopen. We will be looking into other ways to raise money to support our charities as well as scholarships. IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS PLEASE CONTACT RICK O'SULLIVAN AT THE CLUB OR BY EMAIL: email@example.com.
